Living France, the lifestyle, property and culture magazine, has bucked the industry trend of moribund summer circulations with a 15% rise in retail sales.

The strong August demand for the Archant Life title comes on the back of equally impressive performances throughout June and July and follows a major redesign and significantly revamped website earlier in the year.

Living France sold 11,321 copies through the retail trade in August, which is 15.6% up year on year. Subscriptions were also strong at almost 7,100 – a 10.5% increase year on year. This performance moves it even further ahead as the best-selling French sector magazine in retail.

However it is not only the print edition that is doing well, web traffic is growing too. In the first three weeks since the relaunch of the magazine’s website (www.livingfrance.com), the number of page impressions has increased by 50%, while the number of unique users is up 10%. The popular site includes improved property searching and advice functions for people moving across the Channel.

Miller Hogg, regional managing director, said: “The changes we made to the magazine and website earlier this year are really beginning to bear fruit. We have demonstrated how online and print editions of magazines can work seamlessly together and complement each other editorially and commercially.

“When many other titles were struggling through the summer slowdown, Living France was powering ahead and the rest of the year looks extremely encouraging as well.”
