More than 300 exhibitors from ferry operators to fashion retailers, winemakers, property agents and holiday home companies, are lining up surprise treats and special offers for an expected 30,000 visitors to The France Show in London’s Olympia on January 18-20, 2008.

The show, the biggest celebration of French lifestyle and property ever staged in the UK, has attracted strong support from a wide range of exhibitors located in five special Experience Zones dedicated to property, travel, food and wine, fashion and culture, and language.

The property zone which is at the heart of the show is almost fully booked and exhibition space is selling fast in all five Experience Zones, with participants coming from both sides of the English Channel.

Visitors can enjoy special treats including wine-tasting, regional cooking demonstrations, discounted ferry tickets, and competitions to win tickets to new tourist attractions.

The event is organised by Archant Life France, publisher of the UK’s three leading French lifestyle magazines – France, Living France, and French Property News and new leading online property brand www.francepropertyshop.com

Miller Hogg, Archant Life France Regional Managing Director, said: “Some of the biggest players in French property and holidays are coming along, so there’s not only something for everyone but deals you can’t get anywhere else.”

Patricia Connell, Director of French Fairs which stages fairs across the UK showcasing French food, wine and other products, said: “The show will really promote France and French products in a big way and it will be great fun. We’ll have delicious food - crepes, galettes, pain d’epice, bread and pastries, saucission, pates and terrines and wine from Chateau Guillotin. And we’ll have Une Normande, the best French cheese stall in London.”

Connell added: “It’s great for British people but it’s also great for the 350,000 French people who live in London and just miss France and French things.”

Angela Convers from the Office de Tourisme d’Arras, a picturesque historic town in northern France, said: “Visitors from the UK represent 30-35% of all tourists coming to Arras. The France Show is the best way to be in touch with them before they visit France.”

Arras’ attractions include the biggest market in the Nord-Pas-De-Calais region, excellent restaurants and many World War I memorial sites. Arras will open its newest historic attraction on February 2008 - the Wellington Quarry, a memorial commemorating hundreds of Maoris who dug a network of underground tunnels in 1917 in preparation for the Battle of Arras. Visitors to The France Show will have an exclusive opportunity to win free tickets.

The number of British people looking to own or rent a second home in France is on the rise and The France Show is the perfect place to check properties currently on the market and to get advice on practical matters varying from tax, to law, restoration work, and even septic tanks.

Lyndsey McKinnell is marketing manager for SIBLU which sells and rents mobile holiday homes in 12 locations in France, including Languedoc, Cote d’Azur, Brittany, Acquitaine and the Loire.

McKinnell said: “We’ll be bringing a fully-furnished 40 sq-metre holiday home so people can make themselves at home and sit down in comfort with a glass of wine and some French saucisson. We invite people from the UK to stay in our sites for up to three nights to find out what we have on offer. The UK is our second biggest market so this gives us an opportunity to come closer to our customers.”

Whether you prefer a gentle bike ride through the Loire or to ski in the Alps, there is something to suit all tastes in the travel zone.

Chris Thompson of Ski Famille, which offers family-friendly ski holiday packages, said: “The show really appealed to us because it’s so diverse and focused on people who want to really enjoy what France has to offer. We’ll be doing special promotions.”

Bob Blackstock, Manager of Belle France, which offers leisurely walking and cycling holidays, said: “UK clients are our core market. The France Show gives us a great chance to talk to them about our relaxing holidays and the excellent hotels and restaurants which are a highlight of our trips.”

For people with a taste for Le Shopping there will be a huge choice of products on offer from furniture to fashion, houseware and leather goods.

Andrew Barlow-Evans, Director of Oakdale, which specialises in adjustable beds and Japanese shiatsu massage chairs, said: “We’re coming to the show because this is the right target market for us – the customer profile fits.”

David Arnold, Director of leather goods firm Arnold & Arnold is also exhibiting. He said: “We’ll be bringing along our quality leather accessories, handbags, passport covers and wallets. People who travel to France or have property in France fit our customer profile. The show is a real taste of France and a good day out.”
